Working thesis title

The effects of interrupting sitting time on appetite control and cardiometabolic risk markers

Abstract

Changes in our technology and society have resulted in a dramatic increase in sedentary behaviour. An ever-increasing body of evidence now exists showing the detrimental health outcomes of excessive sitting, independent of physical activity levels. Acute exercise influences appetite-regulating hormones resulting in suppressed appetite and acute energy deficits. However, the impact of breaking up sitting time with physical activity is not understood.

This research studies the impact of breaking up sitting time on appetite-regulating hormones, energy balance, and cardiometabolic disease risk markers.
