Radio presenter and 台湾六合彩开奖记录 alumnus, Sam Darlaston, has been highlighted in Ripley鈥檚 Believe it or Not! popular cartoon series.

The world-wide attraction franchise 鈥 known for promoting the 鈥榖izarre and unusual鈥 鈥 chose to 鈥榠mmortalise鈥 Sam in one of their after he tweeted his experience of successfully rearing some caterpillars.

Sam's caterpillarThe Kiss FM presenter, who graduated from the University in 2015 after studying Media Performance at the University鈥檚 Luton campus, found the insects on a bunch of broccoli he had ordered from Tesco during lockdown.

鈥淚 was about to cook my favourite vegetable of all time (broccoli) and after unwrapping it, to my surprise I found caterpillars inside! They鈥檙e really nice and we鈥檝e ended up keeping one as a pet and naming him.鈥 Sam Darlaston said on Twitter.

He decided to 鈥榓dopt鈥 one of the critters (which he called Cedric) but after another Tesco delivery, he discovered more caterpillars hidden amongst the stems. He decided to look after these ones too and documented their development from caterpillars to pupae to butterflies on social media, before releasing them safely into the wild. One of the Cabbage White butterflies was even released live on BBC Radio 2鈥檚 Jeremy Vine programme, after the show鈥檚 host started following Sam鈥檚 story .

This charming but unusual story caught the attention of Ripley鈥檚 staff who featured it in their earlier this month. Ripley鈥檚 has been rolling out their daily 鈥榝un facts cartoons鈥 since 1918.

Talking to the about why he decided to document this unusual story on Twitter, Sam said: 鈥淚 think 2020 needed this kind of fun news!鈥

Earlier this year, Sam began evening voiceover work with E4 to complement his radio hosting role with Kiss FM. This career progression was something he discussed with second year 台湾六合彩开奖记录 students when he was invited to the School of Media & Performance鈥檚 annual 鈥榩erformance in context鈥 Beds TV Day back in January.
