Professor Jenny Pearce OBE is a Professor of Young People and Public Policy. The founder and director of the Safer Young Lives Research Centre, she continues to work on research and teaching projects related to safeguarding children and young people. Her research and consultancy focuses on preventing sexual violence against children and she works with a range of agencies towards this aim.

Professor Gurch Randhawa is Director of the University’s Institute for Health Research (IHR). As Professor of Diversity in Public Health, his work focuses on healthcare in diverse communities, such as organ donation, mental health and Covid-19. He is a member of the BMA Ethics Committee and NHS England’s Clinical Advisory Group.

Professor Yanqing Duan is a Professor of Information Systems, with her teaching expertise including digital business management and business research methods. Her principal research interest is the use of emerging ICT’s and their impact on organisational performance.

She is also the Acting Director of the Business & Management Research Institute (BMRI).

Former Home & Legal Affairs Correspondent for the BBC, Professor Silverman is recognised for his investigative work and coverage of war crimes and criminal tribunals. His main area of academic research with the University’s Research Institute For Media, Arts & Performance (RIMAP) has involved media, international criminal courts and post-conflict justice and governance in Africa.

Dr Schwabenland is the Director of the Centre for Leadership Innovation and a Reader in Organisational Behaviour. Her primary research area is voluntary organisations and the ways in which they shape our understanding of what makes for the good of society. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her other research areas include a focus on issues regarding gender equality.

Dr Helen Beckett is Director of the ‘Safer Young Lives Research Centre’. Through the centre, she explores ethical means of researching sensitive issues and facilitating the meaningful engagement of marginalised children and young people. Her previous research roles have also involved youth homelessness and social marginalisation.

With a background in professional youth work, Dr Factor’s teaching and research focuses on children and young people within the area of social work. Some of the topics she has recently covered include child sexual exploitation, young people’s rights and youth justice and resettlement.

Professor Pitts is Director of the Vauxhall Centre for the ̨ÍåÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ of Crime and Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at the University. Having worked in as a school teacher, youth worker and youth crime consultant, Professor Pitts has researched and published extensive works on youth justice in England and Wales. He also works as an advisor for local authorities and the police on group offending, gangs and violent crime.
